Adopt A Dog

So you want to adopt a dog! It’ s a big responsibility, but adopting a dog in need can be a very rewarding experience. We list all of our dogs on petfinder.com.  Before you fill out the application form, you should first consider why you’re adopting: a dog can be a 12 year commitment, and not one that should be taken too lightly. Here’s a list of some of the most important points you should consider.

  1. How Will A Dog Fit In With My Family? – Lots of dogs are great with kids and small children, but be sure to ask in the adoption application form, and read the petfinder listings carefully.
  2. Find a Dog That Matches You’re Lifestyle – Every dog is different, and some may be more or less active than you would like. Our petfinder.com listings have descriptions of each dogs personalities.
  3. Research The Breeds – Dog personalities tend to vary with breed. Research the different breeds of dogs so that you have more information about what you’re getting into. Wikipedia has a good list of dog breeds that you can use as a resource.
  4. Check our Help and Articles Section – We’ve put information and redistributable publications that we feel are helpful up for download.

You can browse all the dogs available for adoption on our petfinder.com listings. Once you think you’ve found a dog you think  will fit well with your family, please go ahead and fill out the adoption application  form. It will be emailed to our adoption co-ordinator, who will contact you within a day or so. Please be aware that we’ve had to start asking for 3 references for each adopter; we’re interested in sending our rescue dogs to the best homes possible and have had to take this necessary step to achieve that goal.

Adoption Fees

We’re a registered Canadian charity, which means that all the money raised from adoption fees goes directly to medical care for our rescue dogs. Current adoption fees are as follows:

  • Adult Dogs – $200.00
  • Puppies -$200.00 plus $100 deposit that is returned once the dog is spayed or neutered and a certificate or receipt is provided.
  • Senior Dogs – $100 (this includes large dogs 7 years and older)
