This page has dogs that need adopted, but are not in New Hope care. If you want your dog listed here, please fill out the application form.
These are not New Hope dogs and, therefore, are not screened as the dogs in our foster care are. We have not met these dogs and strongly suggest the the owners of the dogs posted use caution when placing their dog in a new family to ensure it is a good home. The same cautions go to potential adopters. Please be careful to ensure you are choosing a dog that will be a good fit to your family. Asking for a trial visit may be a good idea if you are unsure. You can contact the owners directly using the information in each dog’s listing. If you want your dog posted here, please fill out the adoption ad application form. Dogs are posted for 30 days unless we are otherwise advised.
If you don’t see the pet you are looking for at New Hope Dog Rescue right now, please check out the Moose Jaw Humane Society or the Prince Albert SPCA where there are many more dogs in need just waiting for their forever home.
Bear 18 month Retriever X
Bear is a Retriever X (possibly with Irish Setter), 18 months old, Neutered, Microchipped, Vaccinations up to date. My son and I adopted Bear from the SPCA in August 2011. Due to an upcoming move….we are no longer able to keep Bear. We would like to find a committed, patient, loving home for him. This is imperative, as Bear demonstrated a high degree of separation anxiety in the first couple of months. When we first got Bear he did not like to be alone. He barked a lot; this has certainly decreased now that he has adapted. He does bark when we first leave, but does settle. Bear is not kennel/crate trained. He became extremely anxious and he demonstrated his “Houdini” skills . . . he managed to escape from his kennel and, later, a crate. Bear still does have the occasional accident when left alone in the house. However, when we are home . . . he does not eliminate in the house; he always lets us know when he needs to go outside. He also knows his basic commands.
Bear is an extremely gentle, sweet, affectionate dog. He loves to play, have his belly rubbed, chew on his bones, and chase a ball (we’re still working on the ‘return’ part of fetch!). He loves people, other dogs, cats, and children. He is incredibly patient with my son (3 years old) and nieces/nephew (2 years old to 11 years old). Bear will not do well being left alone all the time. He thrives on interaction with people and other animals. Bear is a social dog; he is a wonderful family dog. Bear is an active, energetic dog. He loves going to doggy daycare or one of the off leash parks! We often go for runs. He still needs work on the leash; however, he does really well during those off leash opportunities. He has also been known to “highjack” my runs on the treadmill. Bear is also a great travelling companion. He loves car rides (within the city or a longer road trip). If you need more information, please call Keri at 220-2493. (Posted Feb 2, 2012)
Jagger – 1 year old Golden Retriever
To give away to a good home. Jagger is a purebred golden retriever with his papers and is neutered. He is two years in April, is calm when he is set in his routine, but can still be excitable like a puppy. He is an inside dog, and needs to be with the family most of the time. He needs at least one long walk a day, and will be content to lay by your side after his energy is drained. He is very friendly with all people and all dogs. Would be great with older children, but is too big and playful at times to be around toddlers. Jagger will chase cats, because he dosnt understand that not everything wants to play with him! He is 100% house trained, and knows his basic commands (sit, down, stay, shake a paw). He is a beautiful dog with a wonderful personality. If interested please contact Jessie at 306-242-2537 or 780-201-5083. (Posted Jan 15, 2012)
Toki – 2 year old Husky X
Free to good home. 2-year old Husky cross female; spayed, micro chipped, all shots current. I am currently fostering Toki as her family moved to Ottawa and were unable to take her with them. She is very gentle and calm and loves to play with kids and other dogs (I have 2 dogs, one male, one female and they get along incredibly). She is also very obedient and is house and leash-trained. She prefers to be outside but I have her in for the nights. Toki will make a wonderful pet for any family!! Please call, text or leave a message for Debbie at 306-960-3981 (Posted Jan 8, 2012)
Bella – 1 year old

Bella was born Dec 28th, 2010 and we adopted her on Feb 27th, 2011. She is absolutely an amazing dog. She does sit, high 5′s, shake a paw, we are working on “down”-sometimes works. She sits and waits for us to tell her when she can eat. She is VERY good with our kids but is also a very strong dog. She does have a food aggression with other dogs (not our little dog, but other dogs) and is very protective of her bones/toys. She is crate trained, spayed, has all her vaccinations, house trained, sleeps with us every night, lives with a cat and a little dog, 3 kids, 2 adults. Casey – 9 year old Australian Kelpie X
Casey, is a spunky, nine-year-old, Australian Kelpie (cross) neutered male. We adopted him from the SPCA when he was three months old and have had the pleasure of his company for the past 9 years. He is a bit of a nervous nature dog and doesn’t do well in a household with a lot of commotion, loud noises and young children. He doesn’t like to be left alone a lot but is okay if he is contained in one area where he can’t get into too much trouble. He has not been crate trained and being put in one now would probably stress him out a lot. He loves to play catch, go for walks/runs and also loves car rides especially when he can hang his head out of the window! Casey needs a new home now since we have started a family and have two small children who are busy, noisy and unpredictable (as kids are) and he hasn’t adjusted well to them. He would love to be in a quiet home with someone who has the time to spend with him and snuggle up on the couch! He is a great companion and is pretty protective of his home and family. Casey needs to be loved and spoiled and have someone who is willing to spend time with him as he is a great dog and would thrive in a home with older children or solely adults. He is very much a dog that loves being around people and likes a calm environment. He is good around other dogs but likes to chase cats! As long as he is around a cat that is used to (and not afraid of) dogs, he will leave it alone and probably become good friends with it. Contact: trishmcleod@sasktel.net (Posted Dec 19, 2011)
