In Memory of Jazzy

Jazzy perished in a home fire on Monday Feb 15th. Jazzy was fostered by one of our most dedicated foster homes. She and the members of New Hope Dog Rescue mourn the loss of Jazzy the little American Eskimo cross.

Jazzy will be remembered as a bright little spark of a dog. Even though she was tiny in size, she had the personality of 10 dogs. Jazzy loved everything and loved life! She was the kind of dog who wanted to experience absolutely everything! She met each day and each experience with nothing short of enthusiasm. Jazzy loved meeting people and meeting other dogs and cats too! As long as they were up for a game, then she was more than happy to be friends. Jazzy loved her toys with fetch and tug being 2 of her favourite games. In Jazzy’s books there was no such thing as a bad day or not having fun! It is her zest for life that will be remembered. Rest little Jazzy, you will be missed.

New Hope hosting a used book sale Mar 19,20 & 21

You’ve been asking and now it is here….the news about the upcoming used book sale!

March 19, 20 and 21 at Market Mall. Hours will be 9-9 Friday, 9-5 Saturday and 10-4 Sunday.

We welcome your donations of used books. Please email Maxine at maxr101@yahoo.ca to arrange the donation. Maxine will be needing some helpers for sorting , loading, transporting, set up and take down. Please let her know if you are available to give a hand.

Last year was a tremendous success and a lot of fun. We are excited to make this years’ event an even greater achievement. Thank you in advance for your support.

PetsMart offers another great weekend!

New Hope offers our sincere thanks once again to PetsMart for hosting us on the February 12, 13 and 14 adoption weekend. We would also like to thank PetSmart for providing the dog treats and toys for the dogs. Bob(manager ) and Jesse also checked frequently that the dogs were comfortable and were not in need of anything. I would also like to thank them for providing one of their staff members to be our dog walker. She made sure to know enough about each dog that she walked so if she was asked questions that she was knowledgeable.

Many people came to meet dogs and several applications were put in on dogs that were met on the weekend. We are hoping these will lead to some great forever homes.

Maxine would like to thank all of the people who helped her with this weekend. Transporting dogs, working shifts, many working several shifts and helping inany way they could. We know how busy everyone is and and are so grateful for the time they have offered to help our dogs.

New Hope is pleased to report a very successful adoption day this past Saturday the 30th of January. Many people stopped by to meet and greet our dogs and our volunteers. As usual PetsMart was very generous and accomodating to us. As Maxine reports, “It was so exciting. I really enjoy doing the PetSmart event. Once again all the pets were treated to nail and ear care, toys and treats. They are amazing people. We also received 2 plastic dog crates. A smaller one and a large . “

PetsMart is holding their National Pet Adoption Day coming Februaury 12-14. We’ll be in attendance for sure…more details to follow.

Thousand Mile Challenge

Caroline Tait and her son Skender adopted a dog from us (Jack). They have decided to try to raise some funds for New Hope Dog Rescue, to help other dogs, just like Jack, who were in need of a second chance.

We would like to thank the Hound Lounge doggie daycare for hosting a Christmas Donation Drive for New Hope. We received HUGE boxes of treats, blankets, toys, leash, collars, food, a giant dog bed along with some cash donations. All of these items are very much appreciated and the dogs will appreciate them too! The cash donations will be applied directly to medical bills. Thank you to the Hound Lounge and clients for a wonderful Christmas for the dogs!

New Hope Takes a Break over Christmas

Our director, Karen Machin, has asked that New Hope Dog Rescue be essentially shut down over the Christmas break (December 19th -January 04 /2010) to allow our volunteers a much needed rest and to ensure that our dogs are not adopted out as Christmas gifts. If you submit an adoption application during this time , please be patient and know that we will be in touch with you as soon as we possibly can during the first week of January.

Lost Dog in Melfort Area

We need everyones help in looking out for Thor. He was staying in Melfort with his foster home and something scared the poor boy and he ran. He was seen running in a southwest direction from Melfort which is the direction of Saskatoon. He is wearing an id tag and he is microchipped. He is easy to identify as he will look like the tallest border collie you have ever seen. Please alert everyone you know so we all can watch for him and get him home safe and warm soon.

Macrees pups

I just had to share these great pictures of Macree and her pups. They just started on solid food this past week. Eleven little bowls and eleven little black behinds all lined up to eat their food. Then Momma Macree comes in to help with the clean up. The pups are now 4 weeks of age so will be posted on the site for adoption in the next couple of weeks. They will be ready to move to their new homes at 8 weeks of age.
