Benny
Little Benny was brought to a partner vet after having been hit by a car. His hip was dislocated and he was in considerable discomfort, so the clinic did their best to reposition his hip and return Benny to his people. Unfortunately, his hip continued to pop out of place meaning he was now a candidate for surgical intervention. Unfortunately, the cost and postoperative care were outside of the means of the people who had him and they surrendered Benny to the clinic.
The veterinary office contacted New Hope to see if we would be able to take on the cost and care of this little fella in order to give him his best chance. We called out to our foster families and soon one stepped up and said yes, I can help. On Saturday, December 14, Benny arrived at his foster’s home. At first, he was quite uncertain of his new surroundings and his new person. So, he was given time to decompress and adjust. A couple of hours later, he found himself snuggled up in his new person’s lap and enjoying the attention. Benny will soon meet the other dogs in the foster home.
On Wednesday, December 18, Benny went in to see our friends at Orchard Veterinary Care to see what his best options are and to plan for his future. He is scheduled for his Femoral Head Ostectomy and neuter on December 20th. He will start postoperative physiotherapy on December 24th at Bridge City Veterinary Rehabilitation.
New Hope thanks the team at Northeast Vet as well as everyone involved in getting Benny into our care. Benny is a bright and cheerful pup and should recover quite quickly from his surgery. We are looking forward to seeing what how bright his future is!
Update: This spunky little fella has found the home that will love and spoil him! Thank you everyone for your love and support for this little fella while we were a part of his journey.
Please consider making a donation to our Guardians of Hope program where your donations continue to help dogs like Benny. 100 percent of all donations towards this fund goes directly to the animal’s medical expenses for major medical care.
