Caddie and Jaycee

Caddie and Jaycee

I only needed 1 meet with a New Hope puppy to hit the jackpot with Jaycee. Originally known as Morrigan. From the second she came into the house with her long squeaky snake I was all in on her. Ever curious, over the top playful and a face that would just buckle your knees. From the get go she brought so much life into the house and has earned every pet, kiss and treat from everyone she has met. About a year and a half after adopting Jaycee, New Hope posted about a puppy who had been found in a less than desirable circumstance and they needed a temporary foster home. I was all in again. All it took was them telling me I could name her and I knew she would not be going to anyone else. We walked out the door and she got the name Caddie before even getting into the car.
Jaycee and her took instantly to each other and became best buds, Jaycee playing the big sister role perfectly and helping keep our somewhat troubled Caddie in line and looking after her when she needed it. Caddie eventually shed the aggressive tendencies associated with her short and unfortunate upbringing and became the sweetest and biggest cuddle pup you could ever want. The 3 of us soon moved to BC where they took instantly to mountains, forests and all the adventure we could find.
Last August I woke to find Caddie acting somewhat injured, acting funny. Straight to the vet but her injury continued to get worse and after getting her through an MRI it was found that she had compression on her spinal chord it was un repairable, and the devastating call had to be made to put her to rest.
Although she left a huge hole in our house, the time she gave us was priceless and Ill forever be grateful that I had the chance to be her dad.
Jaycee took the loss hard and showed some signs of depression which was just crushing. But in true Jaycee fashion she came around and is back to her playful self with her new little brother Knox. She is 10 in October and still out almost daily, hiking upwards of 15km, chasing ground hogs, and saying hello to everyone that passes.
I had no clue what I was really getting when I took these puppies in. But they know what you are doing for them, and the love they give back is immense. Thank you New Hope.
