Freya
Welcome sweet Freya into our Guardians of Hope program. This sweet girl was found on the side of the highway after an incident with a vehicle. Thankfully she was rushed to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine’s Small Animal Clinic where she was surrendered to their care. The amazing team at the college reached out to New Hope to see if we could find her a foster home and take on her medical care. With a broken right hind femur she is in need of a surgery to place pins in her right hind leg all while healing from road rash at the same time.
We are so grateful for the foster home who has offered their home for her rest, healing, and rehabilitation. Freya has a long journey ahead of her starting with surgery today, September 17th, followed by 6-8 weeks of crate rest to facilitate healing before starting rehabilitation. Frey is a sweet and loving girl despite the pain and discomfort and still wants to go for walks with her veterinary care team even if they have to use a sling to keep her from using her injured leg.
Update: Freya is coming along in her healing journey so well. She was spayed 2 weeks ago and next week she starts her rehabilitation with Bridge City Veterinary Rehabilitation.
Update: During her visit today Freya was making the staff at Bridge City smile and she has been told that she exceeding expectations. She is needing regular exercises as prescribed by the team at Bridge City and follow up x-rays in 2 weeks (8 weeks post surgery) but she is ready to start the hunt for a home that will love and support her beautiful soul for the rest of her life.
Final update: In no time Freya found herself a new home with a new doggy sister even, living a wonderful life full of love everyday! We cannot thank the teams at WCVM, Orchard Veterinary Care, Bridge City Veterinary Rehabilitation, and her foster family enough, all came together to give Freya an opportunity to succeed and know what true love is.
Please consider making a donation to our Guardians of Hope program where your donations continue to help dogs like Freya. 100 percent of all donations towards this fund goes directly to the animal’s medical expenses for major medical care.
