Casper the Casanova

Casper the Casanova

Anyone who meets this little man is bound to fall in love. Casper is the dog who will give bounds of love the moment you meet him. You can see it in his face and especially in that tail wag. Unfortunately that wag was in jeopardy and the people caring for him were not able to take on the healing time. On Oct 4th he was taken to a clinic partnered with Canine Action Plan (CAP) because of a sizeable wound on the base of his tail. CAP reached out to New Hope and a foster stepped up to allow this boy the time and a safe place to heal.

Casper the Casanova is happily healing and so glad to have full use of his tail even though it means that his stitches definitely need to stay in for the full 2 weeks and he has to wear a cone when not being supervised. Trust us when we say that his tail only seems to be still when he’s sleeping and he doesn’t let the cone slow him down except when he accidentally uses it to close the door he wanted to go through.

Update: Casper had the stitches around his waggy tail removed and he has a bit of an infection still in the wound. He is back on antibiotics as well as experiencing daily hydrotherapy. We feel confident that he will be ready to look for his forever people in the next week.

Update: Casper is a happy and growing boy. He loves to play and enjoy daily life, including eating his meal from a food ball that encourages engagement and movement during his meals. He is ready to find a warm and loving home where he can snuggle and entertain.

Final Update: We are happy to say that Casper has found his forever family and his forever best friend. We know that this sweet boy is going to be so well loved in his new home!
