Ziggy

Ziggy

We want to introduce you to Ziggy, he was brought to our attention by another rescue because of his desperate need for medical care as soon as possible. Ziggy is suffering from mange, at only 4-5mths of age, he is dealing from an extreme infestation of mites. These are causing him to itch and rub to the point that he has open sores on his feet, legs, and hindquarters, as well as scabs and scaly skin all over his face.

Ziggy is pretty scared as he’s trying to learn the ways of his foster home but he already knows how to sit and doesn’t mess in his kennel overnight. His foster is keeping him isolated to give him the time he needs to decompress as well as time for the vets to see him tomorrow at Orchard Veterinary Care to determine what type of mange he is dealing with.

Currently Ziggy is wearing shirts to protect his skin and deter more scratching.

Update: Ziggy met his veterinary care team today and they were able to determine that he has demodectic mange, this one is not contagious to people or other animals, so that is a relief. He will be treated for the external mites that are causing him grief as well as antibiotics and a medicated shampoo. They were also able to determine that he is actually 6mths old already! He is just so underweight, his hip bones are sticking out. He will visit his care team again in 2 weeks.

Please consider making a donation to our Guardians of Hope program where your donations continue to help dogs like Ziggy. 100 percent of all donations towards this fund goes directly to the animal’s medical expenses for major medical care.
