Volunteers fuel our mission! New Hope Dog Rescue is always on the lookout for volunteers who can help us make a difference in the lives of rescue dogs and our community. Listed below are the volunteer opportunities we currently have available.

Member-at-large (Remote in Canada)
New Hope Dog Rescue is currently seeking individuals interested in filling the roles of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Member-at-Large.
The Board of Directors' focus is on visioning the strategic direction, executive oversight, and financial stewardship of New Hope Dog Rescue. Day-to-day operations are entrusted to the staff and volunteers led by the Executive Director.
Additional opportunities for Board members to contribute include participating in planning sub-committees, co-hosting events, supporting resource development initiatives, and helping to shape future program planning.
What You’ll Do
Serve as a general representative for the organization, providing oversight, and voting on critical decisions.
Understand and promote the mission of New Hope Dog Rescue
Keep up to date with issues and trends that may affect the organization
Understand and monitor the organization’s financial affairs and service results
Avoid any potential conflicts of interest
Understand and maintain New Hope Dog Rescue's Code of Conduct & Confidentiality
Ensure the organization is complying with all legal and regulatory requirements
Attend and actively participate in board meetings & the AGM
Act as an ambassador for New Hope Dog Rescue
On-call to answer emergency calls to the Executive Director’s phone one weekend every 8 weeks, approximately
Play an active role in fundraising as well as volunteer and foster home engagement
Abide by, review, and update by-laws as necessary
Qualifications
Strong and effective leadership, management, and interpersonal skills
Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Integrity, high ethical standards, and emotional intelligence
Possess effective oral and written communication skills
Knowledgeable of dog rescue work in Saskatchewan
Knowledge of and/or experience in strategic planning, and visioning, including the identification, analysis, and setting of priorities
Expertise in fundraising, governance, human resources and/or law would be an asset
Board members are expected to actively engage in supporting the resourcing needs of the organization, including through donations, philanthropic endeavours, and promotion of the organization through personal and professional connections
Time to devote to organizational governance
Possess honesty, tolerance of differing views, a friendly, responsive and patient approach
A passion for dogs and an understanding of how they enrich lives and contribute to a better society
A passion for community development and supporting community initiatives
Knowledge of veterinary medicine is considered an asset

Mutt Strutt Logistics Committee
By signing up to assist with the Mutt Strutt committee, you are agreeing to fulfill the duties below for whichever committee you work on in addition to the following responsibilities:
All committee members will be responsible for attending committee meetings (approximately 1 per month - may increase in frequency leading up to the event)
All committee members will be in attendance at Mutt Strutt
All committee members will be responsible for assisting with the setup and take-down of the event
Logistics committee will be responsible for:
Determining the timeline for the event in conjunction with NHDR’s Event Coordinator
Determining the number of volunteers needed at the event and acting as the point of contact for them at the event
Planning and overseeing the activities happening at the event (not related to the market, silent auction or raffle) (ex. puppy play area)
Planning out the walk route, including activities along the route (ex. water stations, activity points)
Mutt Strutt Market Space Committee
By signing up to assist with the Mutt Strutt committee, you are agreeing to fulfill the duties below for whichever committee you work on in addition to the following responsibilities:
All committee members will be responsible for attending committee meetings (approximately 1 per month - may increase in frequency leading up to the event)
All committee members will be in attendance at Mutt Strutt
All committee members will be responsible for assisting with the setup and take-down of the event
Market Space committee will be responsible for:
In combination with NHDR’s Event Coordinator, plan out the Market
Approaching potential vendors to set up at the market
Determining the number of volunteers needed at the market and acting as the point of contact for them at the event
Planning and overseeing the activities happening at the market
Mutt Strutt Prizing & Raffle Committee
By signing up to assist with the Mutt Strutt committee, you are agreeing to fulfill the duties below for whichever committee you work on in addition to the following responsibilities:
All committee members will be responsible for attending committee meetings (approximately 1 per month - may increase in frequency leading up to the event)
All committee members will be in attendance at Mutt Strutt

Soliciting for fundraising team prizes
Soliciting for raffle prizes
Overseeing the silent auction and raffle at the event with assistance from NHDR’s Event Coordinator

By signing up to assist with the Mutt Strutt committee, you are agreeing to fulfill the duties below for whichever committee you work on in addition to the following responsibilities:
All committee members will be responsible for attending committee meetings (approximately 1 per month - may increase in frequency leading up to the event)
All committee members will be in attendance at Mutt Strutt
All committee members will be responsible for assisting with the setup and take-down of the event
Registration committee will be responsible for:
Event promotion that encourages ticket sales (ex. Approaching businesses and individuals to invite them to participate)
Participant registration at the event
Assisting with the distribution of participant bags
Mutt Strutt Sponsorship Committee
By signing up to assist with the Mutt Strutt committee, you are agreeing to fulfill the duties below for whichever committee you work on in addition to the following responsibilities:
All committee members will be responsible for attending committee meetings (approximately 1 per month - may increase in frequency leading up to the event)
All committee members will be in attendance at Mutt Strutt

Sponsorship committee will be responsible for:
Working with NHDR’s Event Coordinator to identify and approach potential event sponsors, including participant bags and top fundraising prizes
Act as a NHDR ambassador at the event, ensuring that NHDR’s Executive Director is introduced to event sponsors and thank them for their support
Working with NHDR’s Event Coordinator to ensure all sponsors receive handwritten thank you cards once the event has concluded

Volunteer Community Visit Team Member (Saskatoon, SK)
In this role, you would be a part of a team that:
Accompany foster dogs/puppies to various senior homes and assisted living facilities around the city
Help foster dogs/puppies interact with community members while at the visit
Take care of the dogs/puppies during the visit, including clean up if they go potty
Interact with the residents and staff of the places we visit
Volunteer Foster Home Approval Team Member (Saskatoon, SK)
In this role, you would be a part of a team that:
Acts as the point of contact for potential new fosters
Conducts initial screening interview with potential fosters
Completes home visits with potential fosters
Be a resource to answer questions from potential fosters
Provides information about fostering, New Hope Dog Rescue, and our policies/procedures
