About the Role

If you're looking for a way to volunteer with New Hope Dog Rescue without having to leave the comfort of your own home, then this could be it!

We are looking for 2-3 volunteers to join the Adoption Follow Up Team! The goal is to check in on our adopted dogs and their new families, see how they are doing, and, if they're facing any challenges, help support them by providing them with resources and guidance.

Volunteers on this team are responsible for conducting follow-ups on our adoptions by phone calls one week, one month and one year after the adoption of each dog. 

Please note, there will be a short interview conducted for anyone interested.

Additional opportunities for Board members to contribute include participating in planning sub-committees, co-hosting events, supporting resource development initiatives, and helping to shape future program planning.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as a general representative for the organization, providing oversight, and voting on critical decisions.

• Keep up to date with issues and trends that may affect the organization

• Understand and monitor the organization’s financial affairs and service results

• Avoid any potential conflicts of interest

• Understand and maintain New Hope Dog Rescue's Code of Conduct & Confidentiality

• Ensure the organization is complying with all legal and regulatory requirements

• Attend and actively participate in board meetings & the AGM

• Act as an ambassador for New Hope Dog Rescue

• On-call to answer emergency calls to the Executive Director’s phone one weekend every 8 weeks, approximately

• Play an active role in fundraising as well as volunteer and foster home engagement

• Abide by, review, and update by-laws as necessary

Qualifications

• Possess effective oral and written communication skills

• Knowledgeable of dog rescue work in Saskatchewan

• Expertise in fundraising, governance, human resources and/or law would be an asset

• Board members are expected to actively engage in supporting the resourcing needs of the organization, including through donations, philanthropic endeavours, and promotion of the organization through personal and professional connections

• Time to devote to organizational governance

• Possess honesty, tolerance of differing views, a friendly, responsive and patient approach

In this role, you would be a part of a team that:

• Accompany foster dogs/puppies to various senior homes and assisted living facilities around the city

• Help foster dogs/puppies interact with community members while at the visit

• Take care of the dogs/puppies during the visit, including clean up if they go potty

• Interact with the residents and staff of the places we visit

About the Role

New Hope Dog Rescue is looking for a creative and reliable Volunteer Fundraising Events Team Member. This role plays a huge part in helping our dogs and organization get seen. As a part of this team, you will be key in helping New Hope Dog Rescue continue to receive the community support that is necessary for us to continue our daily operations, rebuilding our funds for the Guardians of Hope, Saskatchewan First Nation Spay & Neuter Program, Animal SafeKeeping, Hospital Care Program, and Gillian Gratton Memorial Fund. You will have the opportunity to build your experience and knowledge in event planning and donor engagement. You will also have the opportunity to meet many wonderful, like-minded individuals and the well-deserving dogs we are working so hard to help.

If you love dogs and want your organizational skills to directly support animal welfare, this role might be a perfect fit. 

What You’ll Do

• Working with New Hope Dog Rescue’s Events Coordinator and Fund Development Coordinator to ensure that third-party events* have representation at them as required (attending at least 1 event per month on behalf of New Hope Dog Rescue, depending on how many events are taking place that month)

• Attend signature events as a team lead, such as the Annual Book Sale, Anniversary Event, Meet Your Match, and Home By the Holidays.

• Handling funds received at the event and ensuring they are brought to the Executive Director once the event is over

• Covering the silent auction tables; ensuring that volunteers are sorting books for the book sale; being a go-to person for volunteers at an event, and more

• Taking photos and videos of the event to share with the Marketing & Communications Lead 

• Collaborate and report to the Events Coordinator and Fund Development Coordinator

• Meet agreed-upon deadlines

Requirements

• Speak, read, and write fluently in English

• Access to a private computer and an advanced smartphone

• Availability during weekends

• Comfortable working with dogs of all ages, sizes, and energy levels

• Willing to volunteer for a minimum of one year from the orientation date

• Reliable, organized, and able to work independently

• Passion for animal welfare or previous volunteer experience

This role plays a huge part in helping our dogs get seen, shared, and adopted — because great storytelling saves lives.

If you love dogs, have an eye for design, enjoy creating content, and want your skills to directly support animal welfare, this role might be a perfect fit.

What You’ll Do

• Design eye-catching graphics for social media posts, adoption promotions, fundraising campaigns, event announcements, and marketing materials

• Select, edit, and enhance photos of our dogs to showcase their personalities and best features — including basic retouching, cropping, and colour correction

• Use Canva to create and edit content aligned with New Hope Dog Rescue's branding, including consistent use of fonts, colours, and visual style

• Craft engaging captions, headlines, and on-image text, acting as a storyteller who brings each dog's personality and journey to life

• Write platform-appropriate copy tailored to Instagram and Facebook from heartwarming adoption stories to urgent calls to action

• Collaborate with and report to the Marketing & Communications Lead to develop content that highlights dogs' personalities, journeys, and success stories

• Maintain visual consistency across all content to strengthen New Hope Dog Rescue's brand identity
